As recipient of the EDI Award for Academic Excellence, Sacha Williams, a PhD student with the CommiSur Lab, will gain exclusive access to a comprehensive mentorship program through the Mentorat intégral pour la science inclusive (MISI) project. This opportunity will pair Sacha with a dedicated mentor and provide access to specialized activities designed to foster her development as an inclusive leader. The MISI project, funded by the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie through the NovaScience Program of the Quebec Government, reflects the lab’s commitment to supporting diverse talent and inclusive leadership in scientific research.
Ayla Grek, a PhD student with the CommiSur Lab, has been selected as one of 31 finalists for the 2025 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship. Today is World Pediatric Surgery Day. Being a children's surgeon has been a blessing of a lifetime. There is so much I cherish about what we do. But what I cherish most is the trust we build with our patients and families. That is the foundation upon which all else is built.
