PhD Student Alex Dimmer has been awarded the “bourse Aude-Gabrielle et McKinley Bich pour l’excellence des soins en santé mentale” for her project.
Drs. Fabio Botelho and Shreenik Kundu, both completing their PhD studies in Experimental Surgery in the CommiSur Lab under Dr. Dan Poenaru’s supervision, have developed partnerships with the WHO and the Global Surgery Foundation / UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) to create virtual reality trauma courses. The locally developed VR platform (PetitVR) in collaboration with UK-based i3 Simulations, aims to democratize trauma education globally through innovative, multi-player team-based trauma simulation.
Justina Seyi-Olajide, a pediatric surgeon and aPhD student with the Commisur Lab, was invited to join the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health (CIH) for its third and final report of the World Bank’s influential World Development Report of 1993.

Today is World Pediatric Surgery Day. Being a children's surgeon has been a blessing of a lifetime. There is so much I cherish about what we do. But what I cherish most is the trust we build with our patients and families. That is the foundation upon which all else is built.
