April 27, 2023 – CommiSur lab Dr. Dan Poenaru received the “Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQS) Junior 2 Investigators Award for the project “Family-centred care for children undergoing surgery across the continuum of care”.
May 11, 2023 – Fabio Botelho, a PhD student with the CommiSur lab and under the supervision of Dr. Dan Poenaru, won the “Marika Zelenka Roy Simnovation Prize”, of the 2023 McGill Clinical Innovation Competition, for the “PetitVR – a virtual reality simulation module for trauma training”.

Today is World Pediatric Surgery Day. Being a children's surgeon has been a blessing of a lifetime. There is so much I cherish about what we do. But what I cherish most is the trust we build with our patients and families. That is the foundation upon which all else is built.
